Right now, we’re searching for a Product Manager for our new Content Protection-team in our Barcelona-office – are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?

The Role

As a Product Manager (PM) for the Content Protection-team, you are responsible for starting up a new team and lead our new initiative on content protection. As with any successful streaming-service, is important yet challenging, to have our premium-content secured against irregular usage. The Content Protection-team will work close together with the other engineering-teams in video-streaming and Technical Operations, to build the best solutions to safeguard our streams. As the PM you make this possible with your organizational skills and entrepreneur spirit. We also think that you, with your background in IT-security or video-streaming, possess the necessary knowledge and experience to do the correct decisions within the area of content-protection. We are looking for a technical PM with strong leadership-skills that can work with our engineers and business stakeholders to tackle any challenge ahead. Together with the team, you will develop new features in all stages of the development-cycle; from discovery to launch, to validation and further iterations. Your responsibility is to constantly monitor users and markets, trends, behaviors and requirement to understand how Viaplay should work with content-protection over time, balancing short- and long term value with user-experience.

The Content Protection-team will consist of a Product Manager, Engineering Manager and backend/frontend developers with experience in IT-security and data-analysis. As Product Manager of this team you will report to Viaplay Head of Engineering, while your team-members reports to the Engineering Manager, which is your peer. We believe in team-involvement, autonomy and self-organization. In this role you will work in a data-driven engineering-organization, using experimentation and validation as part of the development-process. In the PM role it is your responsibility to ensure the team collects and use all data and insights needed to identify the most valuable next bet. You are also in charge of ensuring safe and quick delivery-strategies for each of the teams’ initiatives. All of this work happens together with the team along with support functions in the organization and neighbour-teams within video-streaming.

What we are looking for:

We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:

• At least 3 years’ experience working as a Product Manager or Product Owner
• A background in IT-security or video-streaming, with a technical mindset and experienced in working with complicated technical challenges.
• Passionate product leader with strong communication skills and experience working in a large organization, with high demand for collaboration
• Ability to define goals and create clarity and team engagement towards them
• Demonstrated understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery
• Proven ability to work with user insights; both quantitative and qualitative to understand customer problems and validate impacts
• Flexible mindset, with the ability to work on both operational and strategic levels
• As a person you thrive in fast-paced environments and can create structure, clarity and direction for the team
