At Viaplay Group, we entertain millions of people every day through our streaming services, radio networks, and TV channels. We believe in the power of content not just as a way of telling stories and touching lives, but also expanding worlds.
We’re looking for the best people to join us on our journey. Right now, we’re searching for a Senior Leader - Program Department in our Stockholm office – are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?
The role
We’re looking for an experienced leader to help develop our program business and shape the next chapter for our channels and content. This is a senior leadership role for someone who combines a proven track record of strong people leadership with a strong commercial understanding of media and content.
You have experience leading people, creating clarity and enabling teams and organisations to perform at their best, while understanding the commercial realities of radio, TV, podcasting and other content-driven businesses. In this role, you will have responsibility for parts of our channel and program business, working closely with channel teams and other functions across the organisation. Reporting directly to the Vice President, you will play an important role in shaping and delivering our overall content and channel strategy.
Your mission will be to develop and drive our program business forward, from strategy and long-term planning to the content that reaches our audiences every day. You will work across radio and digital platforms, including DAB, streaming, web, apps, podcasts and social media. An important part of the role will be leading and developing the organisation. You will create clarity around responsibilities, priorities and ways of working, and ensure that teams and individuals have the right conditions to succeed. You are structured and process-oriented, with the ability to turn strategy into clear plans, goals and follow-up.
Your responsibilities will include:
Owning the planning, development and delivery of the program offering for channels within your area of responsibility, while contributing to our long-term content strategy
Using audience insights, research and data to identify opportunities and translate them into concrete initiatives
Leading and developing parts of the program organisation, including people, processes and ways of working
Managing, coaching and developing leaders and employees, including performance management, recruitment and succession planning
Driving alignment and follow-up on goals, priorities, decisions and business results
Managing budgets and ensuring effective use of resources across your area of responsibility
Working closely with the TV business to identify opportunities for collaboration and cross-promotion
Monitoring industry developments and audience trends to ensure our content offering remains competitive and relevant
What we’re looking for
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:
Significant experience from commercial radio, TV, podcasting, content production or another commercial media business
A proven track record of leading, developing and inspiring teams and individuals
A strong strategic understanding of content, audiences and channel development, combined with the ability to turn strategy into results
Experience creating structure, processes and clear ways of working, with a strong focus on execution and follow-up
A commercial mindset and experience balancing audience, content and business objectives, including budget responsibility
It’s a bonus if you have:
Experience using audience insights, listener/viewer data and research to inform content decisions
Experience working across both traditional and digital media platforms
Experience collaborating across radio, TV and other content businesses
A can-do attitude, sense of humor and the ability to work humbly with others
