Analytics Engineer
At Viaplay Group, we entertain millions of people every day through our streaming services, radio networks, and TV channels. We believe in the power of content not just as a way of telling stories and touching lives, but also expanding worlds.
We’re looking for the best people to join us on our journey. Right now, we’re searching for a Analytics Engineer in our Stockholm office – are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?
The Role
As an Analytics Engineer at Viaplay Group, you will build and maintain data pipelines and models that support reporting and analytics across the business. You will take ownership of the pipelines feeding our BI system, ThoughtSpot, and create reliable, reusable tables for analysis. Working closely with analysts and business stakeholders, you will translate business needs into well-structured data that helps us understand user engagement, content performance, and our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Pipelines: Develop, maintain, and improve pipelines that deliver accurate and timely data to ThoughtSpot and analytical tables
Data Modeling: Use SQL and dbt to transform source data into well-structured, reusable models with consistent business logic
Development: Use Python to support data processing and automate recurring tasks across analytics workflows
Data Quality: Build automated tests and validation checks to identify data issues and ensure reliable datasets for reporting and analytics
Reliability and Performance: Monitor pipeline runs, investigate failures, and resolve data freshness and performance issues. Improve workflows as data volumes and business needs grow
Collaboration: Work with analysts and business stakeholders to understand their needs, define data requirements, and deliver datasets that answer relevant business questions
Documentation: Document data models, business definitions, and pipeline dependencies so colleagues can understand, use, and maintain the data.
What we’re looking for
We are looking for someone who enjoys building reliable data solutions, takes ownership of their work, and collaborates well with others. We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have some experience in the following:
Practical experience with SQL, including writing and maintaining queries for data transformation and modeling
Hands-on experience with dbt for building and maintaining data transformation models
Experience using Python for data processing or automation
An understanding of data modeling and how to structure tables for BI reporting and data analytics
A structured approach to data quality, with the ability to investigate issues and develop reliable solutions
A proactive approach to problem-solving and an interest in making data pipelines easier to maintain and scale
Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to translate business needs into data requirements and explain technical concepts clearly
It’s a bonus if you have:
Experience working with Databricks
Background in the streaming or media industry
