Data Engineer
At Viaplay Group, we entertain millions of people every day through our streaming services, radio networks, and TV channels. We believe in the power of content not just as a way of telling stories and touching lives, but also expanding worlds.
We’re looking for the best people to join us on our journey. Right now, we’re searching for a Data Engineer in our Stockholm or Barcelona office – are you ready to hit play on an exciting career change?
The Role
As a Data Engineer, you will play an important role in building and evolving our growing data platform. You’ll work closely with product, analytics, and commercial teams to design and deliver data pipelines that power insights and decision-making across the company. Our stack is hosted in AWS and supports both batch and real-time data processing. You’ll work with Spark, AWS Glue, Databricks, and related tooling to develop scalable solutions and contribute to a modern data-driven culture at Viaplay.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Design, build, and maintain robust batch and streaming data pipelines
- Ensure quality, performance, and reliability of data products
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business and analytics needs
- Apply engineering best practices: clean code, testing, observability, peer reviews
- Contribute to continuous improvement of our data platform and tooling
What we’re looking for
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering
- Experience with data processing tooling such as AWS Glue, Google Cloud, or Databricks
- Solid programming skills in Java or Python (Scala is a plus)
- Strong experience building data pipelines using Spark
- Good understanding of AWS Cloud services and infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with streaming frameworks (e.g. Flink, Lambda)
- Familiarity with data modeling, version control, and orchestration tools
It’s a bonus if you have:
- Infrastructure as code and CI/CD exposure
- Interest in developer experience and scalable platforms
- Contributions to open-source or internal engineering communities
What we offer you
- We’ve got you covered! 30 days of paid vacation every year, an attractive pension and insurance scheme, lunch benefits through meal vouchers (Barcelona), and generous parental leave pay lift (Stockholm).
- Your wellbeing matters. We provide you with various wellbeing initiatives including wellness allowance.
- A safe space to grow and up-skill. Our learning culture puts you in the driver’s seat of your own development.
- An innovative environment with Hack Days once a year. This week-long initiative allows you to think outside the box and deliver creative, technical solutions that (more often than not) go on to be implemented, either in our product or our ways of working.
- Entertainment is what we love, and entertainment is what we do. So, unlimited access to Viaplay seems only fair for you to get to know the product – including serier & viewing events, new release movie rentals, linear channels and more.
