The role
The Strategic Planning team within Viaplay’s Central Content division is looking for a Project Manager to join its team in Stockholm. Strategic Planning leads the analytical efforts and strategic thinking behind the acquired content programming strategy for Viaplay. The team works cross-functionally to translate data into problem-solving and strategic decisions. The successful candidate will have a high degree of visibility with senior management, which uses the team’s analysis and insights to inform important business decisions, such as our content valuations, performance analyses, and programming strategy.
The role operates in a fast-moving, high-output team and requires a proactive mindset with a bias of getting things done. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the acquired content landscape, with a proven ability to source high-impact titles that support both audience engagement and commercial objectives.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Acquired content strategy
- Contribute to the development of Viaplay’s acquired content strategy and long-term plan by developing audience insights and and understanding of market dynamics
- Assess acquisition priorities and ideal volumes across genres and audience segments – ensuring alignment with overall strategic priorities
- Assess optimal terms for new acquisition opportunities, and support in deal negotiations and the development of investment cases
Content performance and insights
- Contribute to and independently drive content analyses and insights projects
- Analyze content performance at the title level and at the deal level
- Track content performance over time, and translate findings into actionable insights that can enhance our content offerings and contribute to business growth
- Conduct deep-dive analyses and compile thoughtful post-mortems to identify areas for optimization and improvement
- Continued development of the content-selection framework using market and performance insights, working closely with internal teams e.g. Content Curation, Strategy, and Data Science
- Support in deal estimations and performance forecasts both at the title and the slate level
- Deliver insights to internal stakeholders on content performance against ROI and engagement targets
What we’re looking for
We understand you may feel confident ticking certain boxes more than others and that’s why we always keep an open mind in our recruitment process. But, in order to thrive in this role, we do believe you’ll have at least some experience in the following:
- 2+ years of experience in a management consulting firm, investment bank, private equity, and/or media/tech company in a strategy or analytical role. We are looking for candidates who have worked in fast-paced and demanding environments
- Highly analytical and experienced in performing complex analysis
- Exceptional proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
- Proven track record of building and presenting data-driven investment cases
- Extensive experience from working with performance metrics (engagement, retention, ROI) to guide decision-making
- Excellent communicator, with a demonstrated ability to translate commercial and editorial insights into clear recommendations
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, focus on generating results, and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics
- Previous experience with content programming are a strong plus
- Fluency in English plus one Scandinavian language
